Idli is one of the most popular dishes from the vast culinary treasure house that is South Indian cuisine. And when it comes to make breakfast idli is one of the most familiar term which comes in our mind, especially in India.

Preparation Time – 10 Minutes 

Cooking Time – 10 Minutes

Serves – 6 People (Makes 15 pcs)

Idli batter 400gms
6 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp green chilies paste
1 tsp ginger paste
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/4 cup finely chopped coriander leave
1/2 tsp eno powder
Salt to taste

For tempering
1/2 tsp Cummin seed
1 ts. Bengal gram dal
1/2 tbs oil

1. Mix all the ingredients with idli batter.
2. In a pan heat oil add Cummin seed and bengal gram dal to it. When it crackle add the tempering to the idli batter and mix well.
3. Grease idli mould with a dash of oil and fill it with batter and steam for 10 min and the idli is ready.
4. Serve hot idli with coconut chutney.


Note: This idly has to be made immediately after mixing. Do not let the batter rest for long time as batter will lose its consistency.
